About RASASH

Rape and Sexual Abuse Service Highland (RASASH) is a new charitable organisation, a SCIO, based in Inverness. Our Scottish Charity Number is SC045019.

Affiliated to Rape Crisis Scotland, RASASH was set up to:

  • Provide accessible, appropriate and high quality emotional and practical support, information and advocacy for survivors, their non-abusing partners, family and friends.
  • Work towards the prevention and ultimately the elimination of sexual violence, supporting social change by raising awareness and understanding of rape and sexual violence, challenging myths and campaigning
  • Work with others to improve the way society, organisations and agencies respond to survivors of sexual violence

RASASH is grateful to our many funders. Currently these include : Scottish Government, NHS Highland, Big Lottery, People's Postcode Lottery, Foundation Scotland, Gordon Cook Foundation, and, of course individual donors and fundraisers.

Over time, and as funding allows, we aim to develop a presence across the whole of the Highland Council area. There are lots of opportunities to get involved in our work, for example as a volunteer or a fundraiser, or helping us with prevention or campaigning activity. If you want to know more click below.

What We Do

RASASH provides support, information and advocacy for anyone, aged 13 or over, who lives in the Highland Council area and who has experienced sexual violence or abuse. We currently provide face to face support to survivors who can travel to our centre in Inverness, or, for those within 30 minutes’ drive time from Inverness and who cannot travel, we can provide outreach support.

Over time, and as funding allows, we aim to develop a presence across the whole of the Highland Council area. At present we can provide support by telephone, email and Skype to survivors and their families who cannot travel to Inverness or who live more than 30 minutes’ drive time from Inverness.

Our core values underpin everything that we do:

  • We believe that anyone who has experienced rape, sexual abuse or sexual assault, regardless of gender, ethnicity, culture or sexual orientation, should have access to non-judgemental & confidential support.
  • We believe that no-one, regardless of behaviour, dress or lifestyle, is to blame for any form of rape, sexual abuse or sexual assault they experience.
  • We believe that it is everyone’s responsibility to adopt zero tolerance to any form of rape, sexual abuse or sexual assault.

Who we are

RASASH is governed by a Board of 5 active and committed Trustees. We are a small, friendly team, currently consisting of three Support & Development Workers, an Advocacy & Support Worker, a Prevention & Campaigns Worker, an Admin & Finance Worker, two Support Volunteers, several other 'general' volunteers and a Manager.
